G2® Genetics

Viewing NuTech Seed, LLC as a highly sought-after outlet for today's best traits and genetics, NuTech has been hand selected by the world's largest plant breeding programs to deliver their top genetics and industry-leading advancements to the marketplace.

As a logical extension of this corporate expression, NuTech is pleased to have developed a strategic relationship with Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., who has been widely recognized as "the world's leading developer and supplier of advanced plant genetics to farmers worldwide." As a consequence of this breakthrough relationship, our customers have access to the very latest generation of G2® Genetics which are offered "exclusively" through NuTech Seed.

Such offerings are enabled and engineered by virtue of carefully planned and executed strategic relationships ensuring NuTech customers the broadest possible access to the highest yielding and most genetically diverse portfolio of genetics available in the world today. So, it is with the utmost pleasure, we offer the domination performance available with G2® Genetics!

 LASER-ASSISTED SEED SELECTION

In 2008, Pioneer committed to transforming the size and scope of its breeding program by five fold in the next three years. Laser-Assisted Seed Selection is a powerful new tool in their Accelerated Yield Technology™ (AYT) toolbox and will help Pioneer achieve yield increases of up to 40% in 10 years. This breakthrough technology uses a 120-watt carbon dioxide laser to score a small slice from a seed to capture its genetic information enabling the rapid selection of the best genetics for advancement before they ever leave the lab, thus intensifying the impact of other AYT technologies, such as molecular breeding.

Pioneer has numerous patents pending for the technology and will be using it on millions of corn and soybean seeds by the end of 2009. By contrast with more antiquated chipper or blade methods of collection, a Laser-Assisted Seed Selection perfects the technique becauase it eliminates contamination, ensures seed viability and has much higher throughput.

OPTICAL SEED SORTER

While NuTech customers are afforded numerous advantages through the purchase of G2® Genetics, one of the unseen benefits may lay with potentially superior conditioning resources. Processing of our G2® Genetics holds the potential of applying a cutting edge technology originally adapted from the food industry. This technology utilizes sophisticated optical sorting systems that include both reflected light and infrared light.

In the past, seed conditioning options were based solely on kernel size, shape and weight, using gravity tables and sizers. In this process, good seed  may be removed with the damaged seed. And, more importantly, some damaged seed may pass through the screens making its way into the final product. Optical sorting enables much greater precision during seed conditioning of suspect lots and helps ensure seed, which fails to meet strict G2® Genetics standards, will never reach our customers.

"BOREAS" MOBILE WIND MACHINE

Tired of being told the brand you are buying has strong stalks and roots only to find a field full of stalk rot or brittle snapped corn?

Well, maybe it is "time for a change." With G2® Genetics, we're going to extraordinary measures to help our customers achieve industry-leading yields in the face of unpredictable and extreme growing conditions.

Pioneer scientists began using "Boreas" mobile wind machines that test the ability of higher-yielding experimental corn hybrids to withstand violent wind storms that cause significant standability issues and subsequent yield loss some five years ago. However, this breakthrough technology was kept under wraps until patents were filed. Today, these scientists are using multiple trait-specific, high-throughput machines to screen for root lodging, stalk lodging and brittle snap. Testing is conducted across multiple environments and developmental stages throughout North America and compared with natural weather events to ensure the viability and predictability of the data.

STEEL POST STANDABILITY

The fall of 2008 was one that will long be remembered by northwest Iowa and western Minnesota farmers. As illustrated in the photo below, NuTech's new SPS series hybrid have the potential to provide our customers with more "Frustration Free Farming", enhanced profitability and greater consistency of performance.
